The Sunday Times Rich List 2024:Five wealthiest Person in Wales

The list which is updated yearly ranks 350 wealthiest person in the UK and has been mentioned in special edition of The Sunday Times Magazine since 1989.

This year list of families and individuals have combined wealth of 795.361bn euro over the annual GDP of Poland.

The survey is based on wealth including property, land, asset like art, racehorses or share in public companies.

Robert Watts who written the list added “Britains billionaire boom has come to an end”.

“Many of our home grown entrepreneurs have seen their fortunes fall and some of global super rich who came here are moving away.

The minimum entry this year is 350m euro and person that have made the entry include Lord Lloyd Webber, David and Victoria Beckham.

The 2024 edition of magazine has seen the mega fall in billionaire count in 36 year history.

This year 165 billionaire have been reported in UK.

Topping the list for the five richest families or individuals in Wales who have more than 10bn euro wealth between them are venture capitalist Sir Michael Moritz and wife Harriet Heyman.

5 David Sullivan and family

Born in Cardiff, David Sullivan became a millionaire at age of 25 through selling pornographic content.

1970 he managed half of UK adult magazine market and 150 sex shops. In 1982 he spent 71 days in prison charged on living off immoral earnings.

2024 Wealth 1.168bn euro Yearly difference is 50 million euro. Property, football and media is source of wealth.

4 Sir Terry Matthews

Sir Terry 80 years old born in Newport Wales first billionaire and has found over 100 companies. He was the wealthiest person in Wales until he was moved from top position by Sir Michael Moritz in 2012.

He co founded telecom company Mitel in 1973. He owns the Celtic Manor resort in Newport having bought it in 1980.

His wealth source is Telecoms Mitel.Yearly difference is 7 million euro.2024 wealth is 1.340 bn euro.

3. Douglas and Dame Mary Perkins and family

Husband and Wife Douglas Perkins and Dame Mary Perkins 80 are founders of Specsavers which they started from spare bedroom.

This year the 21m euro increase in their wealth.The couple came up with idea of making a visit to optician like going to shop.

Vikings Sign Defensive Lineman James Lynch and release Joejuan Williams

James Lynch is return in action and back with the Vikings. A 4th round pick by the Vikings in the 2020 NFL Draft, Lynch hit free agency this March when his rookie contract expired.

Lynch has appeared in 37 matches with 3 starts. Her has totaled 53 tackles 31 solo 4 tackles for loss, 2 sack and fumble recovery.

To make room on offseason roster the Vikings released veteran cornerback Joejuan Williams who appeared in 2 matches for Minnesota in 2023.

Lynch 4th season ended before had chance to begin due to knee injury suffered during training camp last August.

He was estimated to member of interior defensive line rotation and playing at various posts.

When she comeback to house to grab towels her daughter Emery 15 was shaking and crying. She was like Mommy no Go take care of him Help Oliver help Oliver Harmon added.

Harmon tried to lift him she says her legs gave out “we pick Ollie up all time but i could not get him in car” she admits.

Avery called 911 Harmon tells she and her daughter lifted the dog. they were both traumatized by physical appearance.

Harmon rushed Oliver to emergency vet. The doctors tried to revive him she remained in shock on her knees and hand in parking lot sobbing.

Harmon is now suing Reid and Instacart claiming she believed she was interacting with delivery driver named Merle on app whose profile pics depicted an older lady.

The suit alleges that Reid was not injured by Harmon dog and had ample opportunity to leave property unharmed without shooting the dog.

Harmon is suing for trespassing, negligence, negligent supervision invasion of privacy and negligent misrepresentation. She is seeking more than $25,000 in damages exact amount will be determined at trial.

Instacart added that they suspended the shopper from platform and were working with local law enforcement on investigation.

On May 14 company release a statement Out hearts continue to be with Ms Harmon and her family following this damaging incident. While we cannot comment on pending litigation we have no tolerance for violence of any kind and shopper account has been deactivated from our platform.

Harmon returned home the police asked Reid for about 45 minutes while she say they talked us for 10 minutes and then they let him go She said He did not have mark on him. He did not have scratch.

Several sporting tournaments have long history as the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show which will host its 148th contest this year.

The show will feature over 2500 dogs from 213 various breeds. Long list of breeds consist of new addition.

The Lanchasire Heeler is making its debut as part of herding group.

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will held at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens New York for 2nd year.

Seven groups will produce a winner and Best in Show will get one of those seven to put a stamp on competition.

Best in Show was won by Buddy Holly a Petit Basset Griffori Vendeen. The hound group has won Best in Show in each of last 2 years.

Welker welcome her 2nd baby she and her husband John Hughes have baby boy due via surrogate.

Welker and her husband became first time parents in June 2021 when they welcomed daughter Margot Lane via surrogate.

Welker working to raise awareness about fertility treatments on wider scale noting that treatments are out of reach for so many people.

She and her husband struggle with infertility for 3 years before pursuing surrogacy a process that filled her with uncertainty first time around.

Welker continues “But now that she is here we are 2 peas in pod. We bonded immediately. She looked up at me, I looked down at her and told her that I love her more than entire globe and all fears I had immediately disappeared.”

” I really have been able to enjoy this second surrogacy journey.

“This experience has been very different”.

Over the holiday the pair told Margot she would soon be mega sister news that delighted the little girl. Welker says.

Welker says she and her husband were initially nervous to tell Margot about new baby gifting her a book that explained the news in term she could understand.

“Margot has been telling her classfellows that Mother and Papa are getting her baby brother for her birthday Welker says with smile.

“She is very proud of fact that her baby brother will be sleeping in her old crib and she even come up with name for him.”

When you did not arrive at first we worried something might be wrong. Welker wrote in letter.

“So we went to doctor to asked for help. She was so smart and explained that I might need some help to bring you here”

Welker added ” The response was overwhelming”. ” It brought me to tears I can not tell you how many people reached out to say. ” I am struggling with infertility.

Pig Kidney xenotransplant patient dies 2 months later

The 1st recipient of genetically updated pig kidney transplant has died about 2 months later with the hospital that performed the surgery adding it did not have any sign the transplant was the cause.

The transplant team at Massachusetts hospital added in a statement it was deeply saddened and offered condolences to his family.

Richard Rick Slayman had transplant at Massachusetts general hospital in March at age of 62. Surgeons added they believed the pig kidney would last for 2 years.

On Saturday his family and the hospital that performed surgery confirmed Slayman death.

Slayman had a kidney transplant at hospital in 2018 but had to go back on dialysis last year when is show symptoms of failure.

Dialysis complications arise requiring frequent procedures his doctors suggested the pig kidney transplant.

Slayman was fist living person to have procedure.

Pig Kidneys had been temporarily transplanted into brain dead recipients as experiment.

2 men received heart transplants from pigs both died after various months.

Xenotransplantation refers to healing human patients with cells tissues or organs from animal. Efforts long failed the human immune system immediately destroyed foreign animal tissue.Recent tried have involved pigs have been modified so their organs are more like those of humans.

Slayman family thanked his doctors ” Their enormous efforts leading the xenotransplant gave our family seven more weeks with Rick and memories made during that time will remain in our minds and heart”

They said ” Slayman underwent surgery in part to provide hope for thousands of people who need transplant to survive.Rick accomplished that goal and his hope and optimism will endure forever”

Warner Bros will release first of its new batch of live action ” The Lord of the Rings” movie in 2026 which will focus on Andy Serkis Gollum.

The Project is in early phase of script development from writers Walsh and Boyens along with Arty Papageorgiou and Phoebe Gittins and will show storyline to be told.

” The Lord of the Rings” filmmaker Peter Jackson and partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are producing film and will be involved every step of way.

The studio showed that working title for the movie is “Lord of the Rings”: “The Hunt for Gollum” and will be directed by and star Serkis in iconic titular role.

The movie will be produce by Ken Kamins with Serkis and The Imaginarium Jonathan Cavendish.

The projects will be developed through WB label New Line Cinema. Freemode a division of Embracer Group made adaptive rights deal for books including ” The Lord of the Rings” and ” The Hobbit” under venture named Middle earth Enterprises.

Apple is developing its own chip to run AI software in data centers the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
Apple whose shares were 1% higher before bell on Tuesday did not respond to Reuters request for comment.
The project codenamed as Project ACDC Apple Chips in Data Center aims to leverage Apples Chip design expertise for its server infrastructure.
The company has gained as mega chip designer in latest years thanks to success of its semiconductors that are used in iPhone, laptops and iPads.
Due to slow roll out of AI services CEO Tim Cook had last week signaled that Apple plans to unveil features powered by technology in coming months.
Apples server chip focused on running AI models famous as inference in training AI models.
Apple has been working with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co 2330 TW to design and start production of such chips and it remains uncertain whether both companies have definitive result.
The company plans to hold virtual event on Tuesday where it is expected to showcase new iPad models some of which could come with new chip mission.
