U.S. officials stress Americans to use encrypted apps amid cyberattack

FBI and CISA officials added it was impossible to predict when telecom companies would be safe from cyber attackers.
The hacking campaign nicknamed Salt Typhoon by Microsoft is one of intelligence compromises in US history and is not been fully remediated.
Officials said China hacked AT&T Verizon and Lumen Technologies to spy on consumers.
Amid unprecedented cyberattack on telecom companies like AT&T and Verizon US officials have said that Americans use encrypted messaging apps to ensure their communication stay hidden from hackers.
In the call Tuesday two officials senior FBI official who asked not to be named and Jeff Greene assistant director for cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency both recommended using encrypted text apps to Americans who desire to minimize the chances of China intercepting their communications.
A spokesperson for Chinese Embassy in Washington denied the country was behind hacking campaign China firmly opposes and combats all kinds of cyber attacks.
 The FBI official added “People looking to further protect their mobile device communications would benefit from considering using a cellphone that automatically receives timely operating system updates responsibly managed encryption and phishing resistant multi factor authentication for email social media and tool accounts.
 Greene said “Our suggestion what we have told folks internally is not new here Encryption is your friend whether its on text messaging or if you have capacity to use encrypted voice communication. Even if adversary is able to intercept the data if it is encrypted it will make it impossible.
The second type has been live phone calls of targets.
The FBI official declined to say how many alert it had sent to targets to campaign the presidential campaigns of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris as well as office of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

CALEA systems can include classified court orders from Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court which processes US intelligence court orders.
The hacking campaign was first publicly disclosed in lead up to election the US believes it was not attempt to sway results.

Lions retain control of NFC North with late win over Packers

The Detroit Lions positioned themselves to repeat as back to back champions of NFC North with a 34-31 win over Green Bay Packers at Ford Field on Thursday night.

Nebraska The Huskers rushed the ball throughout the match against Hawkeyes but turnovers proved costly.

Nebraska kept johnson in check until touchdown pass.

Iowa caught a break in third quarter when Nebraska Vincent Shavers Jr muffed a punt and Hawkeyes recovered at Huskers 4 yard line.

The Wisconsin department did not only honor its 2014 and 15 Final Four  teams Friday night it had Hall of Fame coach Bo Ryan in building for the unveiling of the banner bearing his name that raised to rafters of the Kohl Center.

Montana camper offered his killer a beer and it held suspect DNA sheriff says

When Dustin Kjersem girlfriend found his body at campsite in the Montana woods she suspected Kjersem had been killed by bear because the severity his wounds.
Police told a man did it and they have now arrested a suspect who has admitted to the crime.
The accused killer removed items from campsite he believed had evidence could tie him to crime including an axe used against Kjersem Gallatin County Sheriff Dan Springer said in news briefing.
Wildlife officials found no symbols of bear activity and an autopsy helped the idea that case was homicide setting off search for Kjersem killer.
He missed a beer can Springer said. Using DNA from the can the Montana state crime lab was able to find a match. Daren Christopher Abbey.
   
Abbey is being held in Butte on charge of homicide as well as two counts of tampering with evidence. He has been denied bond according to Gallation County records.
This individual confessed to murder of Dustin Kjersem the sheriff said on Abbey who is 41.
Describing Kjersem final days the sheriff said 35 year old set up camp on Thursday Oct 10 in Moose Creek region about 35 miles south of Bozeman where he planned to spend weekend with his girlfriend.
State correction department records show Abbey has four or more arrests fro DUI raising the offense to felony level.
He has tattoos on abdomen and arms including swastikas and viking symbols.
“There does not appear to be any connection between our victim and our suspect” spring said.
“This appears to be a heinous crime committed by individual who had no regard for the life of Dustin Kjersem”
Investigators are working to decide motive for the killing spring said that Abbey has told them his version of events.
“This camp included a wall tent complete with wood stove, beds, lamps and multiple other items” Springer said.

Kjersem girlfriend had to work on Friday so planned to leave campsite to bring her back that night.
Abbey who has relation with nearby town of Big Sky told investigators that planned to camp on that Thursday but when he reached the site where he planned to set up Kjersem was there before.
Springer alleged that Abbey took number of things from campsite consisting of Estwing camp axe a Remington shotgun a Ruger Blackhawk revolver orange YETI brand cooler.
Kjersem girlfriend had to work on friday so he planned to leave the campsite to bring her back that night.
“Dustin did not show up to pick up his girlfriend and she became worried”
Springer said.
“On saturday morning she and her friend drove to the campsite and found Dustin deceased the tent”
