Skyway 10K closes bridge’s northbound lanes Sunday

Almost 8000 person will take part in 6.2 mile event part of which spans the bridge. If you need to travel between Pinellas and Manatee counties Sunday morning ans you are thinking of using the Sunshine Skyway Bridge you will need to take other route.

The northbound lanes of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge will shut at 3:30 am on March 3 to make way for almost 8000 participants of all ability to take part in 7th annual skyway 10K.

This means if you are trying to get from Manatee County to Pinellas County you will desire to avoid bridge you can take US Highway 41 or Interstate 75 north.

The northbound span will reopen at 11 am sharp. Southbound lanes of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge will open throughout the northbound closure.

What is the Skyway 10K?

1,300 Pacific Power consumers without power in southern Oregon

Pacific Power crews are responding to various outages caused by winter weather across its southern Oregon service area, affecting almost 1300 consumers.

Field crews are working to restore power in those area as soon as is safely possible given the chances on the ground the utility added.

Pacific Power encourage consumers to be prepared for outages and helps state and local emergency management organizations, recommending Oregonians have emergency plan for up to 3 days without services.

Pacific Power meteorology team has closely monitoring the crews and storm were on standby in southern Oregon and northern California with snow estimated through weekend.

(CBS DETROIT) – The Motor City Tattoo Expo returns to Downtown Detroit this weekend. 

The tattoo convention is celebrating its 28th year and will bring in over 300 artists and vendors.

It will happen from noon to 11 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

One-day, two-day and three-day ticket options can be purchased on the event’s website.

Detroit tattoo expo seminars

St Patrick’s Day: Locations and Times for this year’s parades

Here is the times, locations and routes for this year;s local St Patrick’s Day parades.

TRIM

The Trim parade starts at 3:30 pm from Newbridge on Ring Road. It will make its way up Patrick Street which will be sensory street of parade before going onto Emmet Street, Market Street and finishing at Castle Street.

The annual Trim raft race will take place and Matt Leavy will perform on parades stage.

NAVAN

Navan’s St Patrick’s Day parade will begin at 2pm from Enterprise Centre and follow usual route from Trim Road to Railway street Canon Row kennedy road and market square.

A sensory street on Canon Row also being introduced this year.

There will be free children entertainment in St Mary hall on Trimgate Street from 1 to 4:30pm and market stalls from 12:30 pm on Kennedy plaza.

ASHBOURNE

Ashbourne St Patrick’s Day celebration are beginning at 11am with market stall and music commencing. The parade with this year’s theme as Sharing our Planet will start at 12.45pm with local groups, sports clubs and businesses featuring in it.

The 2024 parade is said to include musical participants in parade than previously ensuring it is a lively event.

SLANE

Slane St Patrick’s parade will begin at 3:30pm at top of village beside the local primary school and end at gates of Slane Castle.

A vote will take place during parade for best float with a euro 500 prize going to winner.

This parade has running for last 29 years. There is music in village square from early in day and visit from few familiar faces such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

The Kingscourt Parade will begin at the Dublin Road at 1pm making it way down the Main Street.

The Arnold Sports Festival is famous worldwide for its bodybuilding and strength contests, but the 4 days even draws more than just onlookers to see ripped and shredded bodies.

Street closures during the Arnold Sports Festival

Motorist should be aware that will be severa street closures at multiple times during the Arnold.

Starting Friday at 8 am there will be closure on west side of North High Street daily through Sunday. Streets will be shut at North High Street are West Swan Street Spruce Street and Vine Street.Driver will be able to access parking in garage at 45 Vine St.

Closures will be removed each day after sports festival is over at 10 pm according to information from the Columbus Division Police Special Events Bureau.

At 8 30 am on Sunday High street will close in front of the Greater Columbus Convention Center 400 N High St for setup of the Arnold Classic 5K Pump and Run which will start at 10 30 am at North High and Goodale Streets.

Closures at North High Street and Goodale Street will start at 8 am Sunday will be rolling closures along the race route which includes much of Downtown.

The race is expected to end noon and roads are to reopen by 1 pm with exception of aforementioned streets at North High Street West Swan Street Spruce Street and Vine Street which will shut until events at convention center are over again parking in the Vine Street garage will be accessible.

Amber Alert issued for abducted Weslaco teen suspect identified

An Amber Alert was issued late Thursday night for abducted 13 year old girl in Weslaco.

Esmeralda Mireles was last seen Thursday at around 3 am in area of 100 N. Kansas Avenue according to new release from police.

Mireles suffers from medical conditions the release added.

New release from Texas Department of Public Safety says law enforcement official believe Mireles is in grave to danger.

Mireles is described as being 5’6″ and has orange, reddish colored hair with mullet style haircut and weights 145 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.

The DPS news release say police are looking for 37 year old Luis Gomez a suspect wanted in connection with abduction.

Gomez last view driving in a 2001 Chervolet Sileverado with license plate number GCW9494.

Police are searching for a white 2017 Subaru Impreza with New Hampshire plate Number V69023 driven by 36 year old Dustin Duren

An Amber Alert has been issued following abduction of 2 young children from Berlin New Hampshire according to New Hampshire State Police.

Valyen and Elowyn Duren believed to have been abducted

Dustin Duren is believed to be with 2 children 13 month old Valeyn Duren and 14 year old Elowyn Duren both girls with blue eyes and blond hair.

Police not say whether or how Dustin Duren and two girls are related. Their last known location was Concord New Hampshire around 8 pm Thursday.

Any one who view Dustin Duren the children and or vehicle is asked not to approach them but to call 911 immediately as Dustin could be armed and dangerous state police told.

An alert was sent to phones of New Hampshire resident after 4 am saying that police are looking for white 2017 Subaru Impreza with New Hampshire plate number V69203 driven by 26 old Dustin Duren who is described as 5’10”, 190 pounds with brown hair brown eyes. State police issued a press release minutes later.

The annual Vancouver Sevens rugby tournament start Friday at BC Place and will run all weekend with men’s and women’s tournament champions crowned in gold medal games on Sunday afternoon.

24 teams from 12 countries will contest in 64 rugby sevens matches over the course of weekend, cheered on by creatively costumed fans.

General admission tickets for Saturday are sold out reserved seating tickets and day passes were still available on Vancouver Sevens website as of Friday afternoon.

Mountain film festival starts

Friday is opening night of the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival a weeklong celebration of outdoors and filmmaking.

The century old event nestled in northeast Hillsborough County is the most attended fair in state with hundred of thousands of attendees.

$15 for those 13 and older and $5 for age 6-12 kids five and under get in free.

New history center highlights Queens through the years at 89th Florida Strawberry Festival

The 89th Florida Strawberry Festival starts Thursday and there will be all traditional food to enjoy but there is a new feature this year that highlights the festival great history.

Last year we had a record breaking year.Stephanie Shuff added. We had over 600,000 person in attendance.

Agriculture is backbone many volunteers who work tirelessly to bring the festival to life.

Shuff is one those volunteers. The day before event can be hectic.

This festival is 11 day event. It begins Thursday Feb 29 and last until March 10.

There is a new app called the Florida Strawberry Festival which you download to assist you navigate the grounds.

New this year is the history center which is in old National Guard armory building and showcases past performers like Taylor Swift and Queen through decades.

The fair has been since 1930 so we have history items.

The Florida Strawberry Festival is 11 day community event celebrating the strawberry harvest of Eastern Hillsborough County.

The 2024 Florida Strawberry Festival will be Out of This World and is February 29 through March 10 in Plant City.

For its 89th year the festival celebrates the strawberry harvest with midway animal shows and lineup of top country, rock and pop artists.

How this small Texas town became the Leap Year Capital of the World

There is event taking place this year. Leap Day Feb 29 when we all gain 24 hours to do whatever we please.

Anthony Texas in El Paso County is famous as the Leap Year Capital of the World an honor it share with Anthony.

In 1988 Mary Ann Brown a Leap Year baby born in 1932 formed the Worldwide Leap Year Birthday Club and proposed to the Anthony Chamber of Commerce that the town claim the moniker LeaP Year Capital of the World.

The chamber agreed and sponsored a Leap Year festival that year.

The nickname became official when then Texas Gov. William B Clements and then New Mexico Gov. Garey Caruthers proclaimed it so.

It was read into the US Congressional Record on Oct 14, 1988.

I said it would get attention of those Leap Year People and beside that bring out all families and friends and relatives.

Town has hosted a Leap Day celebration every 4 years intending to throw Leap Year babies the final birthday party.

This year festival takes place Feb 29 through March 2 and includes a Feb 29 birthday dinner exclusively for Leaplings followed by 2 day festival at Anthony Municipal Park.

What El Paso Electric says you can do keep handle on bill

Few El Pasoans have reported seeing a large increase in electric bills. Various are wondering why their bills have climbed and what if anyting can be done.

We talked to El Paso Electric about what customers can do to keep handle on bills.

Melanie Valdez the supervisor of energy consulting for El Paso Electric said each household has various energy consumption demands.

Paloma Silva who lives on the East Side said her bill came out to $300 for January.

This is a big spike for her compared to what she was paying last year for same month which was between $80-$90.

Valdez said El Paso Electric offers various payments plans and options.

The Budget Billing plan helps customers pay their electricity bill by spreading the cost even over 12 months.They estimate a customer yearly average and divide it by 12 to determine their monthly payment according to El Paso Electric.

For low income residents there is low income Rider Plan. To qualify El Pasoans must have account with El Paso Electric under own name and possess a Lone Star card or have household annual income at below 125% of federal poverty level.

Valdez is urging those residents to call El Paso Electric so they have their account looked into. Valdez gave recommendation to save energy.

Overnight power outages for thousands in NE Ohio

Thousands FirstEnergy customers were without power early Wednesday morning.

At 3 am more than 4000 consumers in Stark County were in dark and more than 1000 in Ashland County.

Short time later over 1600 consumers in Cuyahoga County were without electricity.

The majority of outage have been restored.

Tornadoes likely in Riverside Clark County, storm damage across area

Few possible tornadoes were reported in Riverside and Clark County early this morning as thunderstorms moved across the region bringing damaging straight winds, hail along a cold front.

Thousands are without power following powerful storms that knocked down trees and power lines.

 In Clark County and Riverside radar tracked tornadic debris signature in various areas.

A tornado was reported at 4:37 am to National Weather Service in Riverside where glass was blown out at the Airway Shopping Center.

Tornado was also reported at 4 54 am to the National Weather Service in Wilmington spotted southeast of Springfield.

Heavy debris reported on Mitchell Road.

A tornado reported at 4 56 am about 4 miles southeast of Springfield with various houses damaged and debris signature also view on radar.

The NWS reported at 5 :01 am that radar confirmed a tornado southeast of Springfield toward South Vienna.

Severe thunderstorm with strong rotation was located at 4 42 am over Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Tornado was radar indicated and the NWS said a tornado is occuring or imminent.

It is not clear how many tornadoes touched down.

 The storms also dropped 2 inch or egg sized hail which reported at 4:55 am near springfield.

Storm damage report are coming in including multiple houses damaged about 5 miles east to southeast of springfield.

Mega free feel on house at 4: 35 am in Huber Height and tre fell on a car nearby.

A 12 inch diameter tree reported down at 4:59 am near New Love Road and Interstate 70 west of South Vienna.

During thunderstorm wind gusts of 60 mph were reported at 4 56 am at Springfield Beckley Airport.

Showers will continuer before 11 am followed by a chance of showers between 11 am and noon.Storms could produce heavy rain.

It will be cloudy with temperatures plunging to around 35 degrees by 5 pm. It also remain breezy with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Tonight will clear and much colder with overnight low around 23 degrees.

Thursday will be sunny with high near 44 degrees.

Thursday night will be clear with overnight low around 28 degrees.

Friday will be cloudy with a high near 51 degrees.

There is less chance of rain Friday and Friday night which will be cloudy with overnight low 40 degrees.

Saturday will be sunny with a high near 60 and Sunday mostly sunny and much warmer with 70 degrees.

In person voting famous in Washtenaw County overall turnout low

The Washtenaw County elections division reported lower turnout in Tuesday night’s primaries than in latest years.

New voting laws in Michigan this was first election to be preceded by 9 days of early voting.Over 322,000 registered voters in Washtenaw County under 78000 filled out a ballot. That comes to about 24% turnout.

The ballot count was shortly after midnight this morning.

Ed Golembiewski is director of elections for Washtenaw County. Addition of early voting does complicate the election process.

Golembiewski added when compared to rest of state Washtenaw County voters utilize their early voting options.

Arbor led the state in early voting participation with over 2700 residents casting their ballot before election day

Are you registered to vote in Michigan? How to check before the 2024 primary

The Michigan primary is scheduled for Tuesday Feb.27. As Michiganders are planning to vote for next president voters must first ensure they are registered.

Your address list on voter registration determine which precinct you must report in order to vote.

If address change within 14 days of election voters can go city or township clerk office to do so.

According to Canadian Broadcasting corporation upon returning to Ontario Canada after son destination wedding in jamaica, the parents of groom were surprised to discover valuable missing from luggage.

They were not alone as number of fellow travelers nearly half of 40 guest in party found themselves missing clothing, fragrances and electronics.

We normally would leave our valuables at home but it was wedding so we were dressing up the mother of groom.

Lisa Parson told to media she added that guests traveled on Sunwing airlines a cost efficient airline headquartered in Toronto.

It was not about money. Lisa said adding that her husband Dave Aipods that were stolen were located in Jamaica.

It more abut fact now there is this dark cloud when we all were on high note.

The media reported that incident happened on day guest loaded their belongings onto a bus at Hotel Rou Ocho Rios and embarked on 2 hour journey to Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.

The guest checked in their bags.

After boarding they touched down in Canada around 11 pm local time.

The guest woke up to texts from Bryan Williams a friend of the groom who claimed he had $200 bottle of cologne and some dress shirts and pants stolen.

We have a big group chat that we had going while we were on trip. Williams said.

Everybody was like yeah Im missing this missing that we are realized that there was more than just one or 2 of us were missing some things.

Soon other guest discovered items missing from suitcase as well. They said lining of their bags had been shredded and the locks cut.

Now David the father of groom is reminding people how it is important to remember to take caution when traveling with valuables.

He added Make sure you keep your valuable close to you. Your bags your main bags are mercy of whoever desire to I guess access them.

The Parsons were missing a $550 Bulova watch 2 sets of $300 AirPods and laptop cord valued at $120.

Expensive perfume, clothing, cologne and about half of group had luggage tampered with the lining shredded and locks cut.

The Parsons were able to confirm that the theft had not happened at Toronto Pearson Airport after using phones to track loccation of stolen airbuds.

We were all brainstorming on what had gone on and realized that we were all compromised at the Montego Bay airpot.

It is only time our luggage was unattended. Lisa said.

Daves Airpods were found on another part of island mine are on Providence street in Montego Bay Lisa added. It shows you exactly where its and it is 2860 mile away. so they are in jamaica.

Montego Bay Airport Authority told media that the airline is responsible for stolen luggage items or missing baggage and that theft does not occur at the airport.

Baggage handler at Sangster International Airport are employed by individual airlines.

Sunwing is who we paid our money to so I feel they are one that need to step up to plate Lisa added.

The group filed a complaint with airline but did not hear back for few days.

One of travellers later get a call from Sunwing Corporate office. Montego Bay Police had launched an investigation into thefts.

Jamaica police did not response.

Dave Parsons said group is waiting to see to what extent they will be compensated by Sunwing befor filing a claim with their insurance company.

The couple is sharing experience was a warning to other travellers.

She said travellers who have had items stolen are protected by Air Passenger Protection Regulations in two ways.
