Walt Disney World Closing on Wednesday as Hurricane Milton take $150 Million Toll

Walt Disney World revealed a number of theme park closures starting Wednesday because of Hurricane Milton which is estimated Central Florida after Goldman Sachs report released Tuesday estimating Disney is likely to take a nine figure hit financially from oncoming storm.

Disney has not comments on hurricane.

  • The storm will cause park attendance to decrease by 6% this quarter.
  • Milton is now a Category 5 storm is expected to pass through Orlando area where Walt Disney World is located it makes landfall near Tampa, Florida on Wednesday.
  • Disney said its transportation will stop operating after its theme parks close Wednesday though Walt Disney World Resort guests will have limited taxi service and cancelled its Mickey Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom park tickets will be refunded.
  • Disney revealed a number of staggered park closures including closure of Disney Hollywood studios and Disney Animal Kingdom theme park at 1 pm EDT Wednesday and closure of Magic Kingdom park, Disney Springs and EPCOT at 2 pm.
  • Disney said its transportation will stop operating after its theme parks close Wednesday though Walt Disney World Resort guest will have limited tax service and canceled its Mickey Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom park adding tickets will be refunded.
  • Disney said its Fort Wilderness campground and its villas at Disney Wilderness Lodge and Saratoga Springs resort will close beginning at 11 am EDT Wednesday and will remain closed until Sunday.

The announcement came Hurricane Milton roared toward Florida as  Category 5 storm with sustained winds of 165 mph on Tuesday afternoon according to National Hurricane Center which in a 5pm advisory that storm was 480 miles southwest of Tampa.

Hurricanes have forced parks to close in Disney more than 50 year history according to Walt Disney World Magazine.

Disney World Universal Orlando Resort and other theme parks make area most visited destination in US attraction 74 million tourist last year.

The storm has prompted evacuation mandates along coast.

the greater Orlando area where Disney is located the Orlando airport revealed it would be closing at 8 am Wednesday.

Milton has back into category 5 hurricane. It is forecast to weaken before it makes landfall it will double in size mean its disastrous impacts will be felt over larger area.

Over past 24 hours the tropical storm force winds expanded from 80 miles to 140 miles from its center.

Despite efforts to clean up after Hurricane  Helene rubble including sheet metal mega appliances remain in neighbrohoods

Miton winds will turn that debris into dangerous projectiles that could  hit people or homes get out.

What Time is Milton Hitting Florida

The chance for people on Florida west coast to get out before effects of Hurricane Milton are seen rapidly closing according to sheriff of Hillsborough County which consist of Tampa.

The sheriff said over 1000 rescues were conducted in his county after Hurricane Helene and they are preparing fro more.

“We only have to look back two weeks before. We are still healing from this storm and recovering”.

Hillsborough has ordered evacuations for residents in zones A and B and manufactured homes.

Tropical storm force winds could reach the area as early as this afternoon.
