Tony Todd an actor who played the killer in Candyman and its 2021 sequel and appeared in Final Destination Platoon over 240 movies and TV credits spanning 40 years died November 6 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 69.

Born in Washington in 1954 Todd had hundreds of tv and films credits to his name in 40 year career.

He appeared in 1996 The Rock played funeral home owner William Bludworth in Final Destination franchise and Grange in 1994 The Crow with Brandon Lee.

He was famous voice actor playing characters in the Call of Duty and Half Life games as Venom in movie Spider Man 2 and villain in Transformer Rise of the Fallen.

Todd pursued acting at the Eugene O Neill National Actors Theatre Institute and Trinity Rep Conservatory where he honed his skills and developed his commanding style.

His first screen roles was playing heroin addicted Sergeant Warren in Oliver Stone;s Best Picture Oscar winning Vietnam war classic Platoon.

He appeared in 1980 dramas Lean on Me, Colors and Charlie Parker biopic Bird starring Forest Whitaker.

The 6 foot 5 Todd acted in 1990 remake Night of the Living Dead as Ben the role played by Duane Jones in George A Romero iconic 1968 original.

Candyman in 1992 movie was ghost of Daniel Robitaille whose parents were enslaved in 1800 and became an accomplished painter.

He fell for white woman whose enraged father sent a lynch mob to murder him.

Robitaille was burned on a spot where public housing project later is built and where series of murders happens.

The Candyman legend lived in 2021 sequel directed by Nia DaCosta.

Todd continued to work in TV, video games and movies throughout the 21st century consisting a recurring gig as CIA director on NBC chuck.
