President Donald Trump called on Democratic Virginia attorney general candidate Jay Jones to drop out of race after reported texts by Jones in 2022 saying ex Virginia House speaker should receive two bullets to head were made public.

Republican House Delegate Carrie Coyner shared screenshots of her Aug 8 2022 chat with Jones in which he admitted they were sent to her in error.

In email to The Progres Index Coyner called the messages not just disturbing but disqualifying for anyone who wants to seek public office.
The messages first reported by conservative leaning media National Review come after a poll conducted in days following Charlie Kirk assassination found that most Amercian believe brash political rhetoric is sharing to violence.
Other plots have targeted Democrats consisting of fires set at Pennsylvania Gov Josh Shapiro house kidnapping plot against Michigan Gov Gretchen Whitmer and man who broke into home of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to attack her husband with hammer.
According to screenshots of text Jones was upset by comments attribtuted to Gilbert on death of democratic delegate Jones accuse delegate of leaking information about Virginia House Democrates to House Republican Caucus.
He apologized to Coyner for sending text to her in error but then launched into rant where he compared Gilbert to former world dictators Hitler and Pol Pot.

Jones acknowledge in statement from his campaign that like all people i have sent text messages that I regret.
He reiterated that violent rhetoric has no place in our politics.
He accused Republican incumbent Jason Miyarres of dropping smears through media outlet favorable to Trum Republicans.
Democratic gubernational candidate Abigail Spanberge said she spoke frankly with Jones about texts.
“After learning of these comments earlier today i spoke frankly with Jay about my disgust with what he had said and texted she said.
“I made clear to jay that he must fully take responsibility for his word What I have also made clear is that as candidate and next governor of our commonwealth I will always condemn violent language in our politics”

A string of text messages from Jay Jones Virginia Democratic nominee for attorney general where he mused about violence directed toward political rival is moving widespread backlash and threatening to shaek up state November election.
Jones has signaled he plans to remain in race Republicans up and down the ballots are pressing Democratic nominnee for governor Abigail Spanberger to publicly call on him to step aside.
In August 2022 Jones wrote about shooting then Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilber in text messages he sent to Republican State Del Carrie Coyner.
The texts which were first reported by National Review and viewed by The Washington Post have not been confirmed by media but Jones has not questioned their veracity and publicly apologized for them.
The murder of conservative organizer Charlie Kirk last month launched focus on public discourse coming from country elected officials.

Jones tolde media a Richmond area tv station on Friay that he reached out to Gilbert and family to apologize after messages came to light.
“I m sick to my stomach when i read those words.
Certainly they are objectionable they are abhorrent they have no place in virginia no place in this country discourse again im so deeply deeply sorry.
“We are gonna continue to move forward he said.
This race has never been about me it always been about people of Virginia and what thy deserve out of their leaders and their attorney general.

Jone sdoes not have morality or character to drop out of this race and his running mates Abigail Spanberger Ghazala Hashmi and every elected Democrat in Virginia do not have courage to call on him to step away from this campaign in disgrace.
