Who was Ed Gein?

Gein was born Aug 27 1906 to parents George and Augusta Gein.

He had one brother Henry. The Gein family moved to farm in Plainfield Wisconsin when Ed Gein was young where they lived in isolation Ed Gein attended school but was said to be punished by his mother if he tried to make friends. He grew up strict and religious house hold.

Ed Gein later told investigators he and borther were abuse by father who died in 1940 of heart failute.

Four year later Heny Gein died Though Henry Gein death in series is portrated as murder by his brother in real life investigator ruled out foul play at time and Ed Gein never admitted having role in death.

Ed Gein idolized his mother and took care of her after she had stroke soon after Hernry Gein death.

She died after having second stroke in 1945.

What happened to Ed Gein?

Gein was charged in Worden murder pleaded not guilty by reason for insanity and found unfit to stand trail in first trial.

He was sent to psycho facilities and at second trial in 1968 found guilty of murder but follow up proceeding was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

He was tried for Hogan death for grave robberies he confessed to.

Gein died in 1984 at age of 77 of respiratory failure related to lung cancer while still at Mendota Mental Health Institure in Wisconsin.

Gein was first arrested in 1957 when authorities were investigating the disappearance of Bernice Worden who owned hardware store.

Investigator found receipt for purchase made by Gein along with blood in store leading them to Gein and property.

In shed they found Worden mutiated body hanging from hooks with her head severed.

Gein 51 at time admitted to Killing Worden.

Inside his farm house investigators found Worden head and slew of other nightmarish discoveries human skulls a lampshade made from human skin more than half dozen mask made from flesh of female faces a wearable corset made from skin of female torso and more.

Gien told investigator the wish to kill and keep human flesh was driven by his deep connection with his mother and desire to become more like woman by wearing their skin.

His grisly crimes were loose inspiration for some of notorious horror movies including psycho and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

They found remains belonging to Mary Hofan a tavern owner who had missing for three years. Gein admitted to kiling Hogan.

Other body parts Gein said he got from robbing at least nine graves in cemetery.
