After several negotiations UWUA Local 1-2 has tentatively agreed to terms of new 4 year collective agreement with Con Edison averting a strike.
The tentative deal was reached Sunday morining and revealed by union on its social media.
The new deal includes higher wages for utility workers an enhanced medical plan with minimum increases and rapid wage increases.
Their current contract expired at midnight.
The talks were held at hotel in White Plains.
The tentative deal now goes before utility workers for vote to ratify the agreement. That should happen in coming days.
Its a relief for millions of New York citizens who could have impacted. Union representative Michael Pena and avoiding strike was crucial during this heat wave.
