Rugby sevens and others events to check out in Vancouver this weekend

The last weekend of February is the 1st weekend of ongoing events in Vancouver. Here are 5 things to check out over the next few days.

Vancouver Sevens

The annual Vancouver Sevens rugby tournament start Friday at BC Place and will run all weekend with men’s and women’s tournament champions crowned in gold medal games on Sunday afternoon.

24 teams from 12 countries will contest in 64 rugby sevens matches over the course of weekend, cheered on by creatively costumed fans.

General admission tickets for Saturday are sold out reserved seating tickets and day passes were still available on Vancouver Sevens website as of Friday afternoon.

Mountain film festival starts

Friday is opening night of the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival a weeklong celebration of outdoors and filmmaking.

More than 70 adventure and mountain stories will featured in this year event which includes special guest speakers, filmmakers, expert led and intros workshop on photography storytelling and mountain safety skills.

The event continues through March 3 at theatres around city and online.

VMF Winter Arts Festival

VMF the Vancouver Mural Festival has collaborated with designer Debra Sparrow on her ongoing public art series.

The installation will be visible nightly until 11 pm from Friday through Feb 27. More location and information of seven displays can be found onlines.

An Indigenous Misadventure

Another event this weekend is reimagining of Moliere most famous play Tartuffe at the Granville Island Stage.

Co produced by the Arts Club Theatre Company and Touchstone Theatre, the play opened Thursday and will run through March 24.

Maker Supply Market

Over 40 local artisans will be on hand at the Heritage Hall on Main Street from 10 am to 6 pm.Saturday for 2nd edition of Vancouver Etsy Co Maker Supply Market.

The event is chance for vendors to sell extra making supplies, samples not perfect good items display clearance items.

Admission to market is free and can be reserved in advance online and all items for sale will be price at $50 or less.
