Popular Cork pub Plans sky bridge bar expansion into closed bookshop building

The pub company are looking to renew the bookshop building which was sat empty since it closed in 2020.

Mutual Enterprises the owners of venues including BarBarossa, Vodoo Rooms and An Brog have applied to change the former Uneeda bookshop into a new bar to add to the Oliver Plunkett Street nightlife strip.

The former Soho venue is an over 23s club with a new DJ booth and couple bars downstairs including the main bar area with bar seating booth style tables and live music performances.

They have done mega job in six months of renovations with full renovation of the bar, flooring, furniture and new lights in what is beautiful nod to Gatsby esque Art Deco glamour with a modern change.

The publicans are hoping to overhaul the bookshop which has been empty since 2020. They are looking to change the ground floor shop into a bar on the second story. The desire to add a sky bridge that connect the new venue to the Voodoo and An Brog block.

Their planning applications suggest the sky bridge a fancy connecting bridge, usually made out of glass which will go to Market Avenue and connect the pubs together. They have applied to extend the roof of the old uneeda building and to renew the exterior of the venue with new window, signage. Cork City Council is expected to make decision on the new bar by March this year.
