Toyota Planning to bring a hybrid version of new Prado to Australia in mid 2024

Toyota in near future will launch Prado in mid 2024 with a hybrid diesel.The organization has open up its new generation Prado previous year, however due to growing demand of its hybrid version which makes more than 80% of Corolla and Camry sales.Diesel Power is only available in land of Kangaroos.

The Prado is available here mid 2024 powered by a 2.8 litre turbo diesel four cylinder engine with a 48V mild hybrid system, generating 150kW of power and 500Nm of torque identical outputs to the outgoing Prado.

In other markets such as North America new generation SUV will be offered with an available 2.4 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder petrol electric hybrid with total outputs of 243KW of power and 630 Nm of torque.

This powertrain is 8 speed automatic transmission with drive sent through a full time 4 wheel drive system.

The new LandCruiser Prado to be famous as LandCruiser 250 in Japan and LandCrusier in North America is the new generation of the Prado since 2009.

Available powertrains depending on the market include a 2.4 litre turbo petrol 4 with 207kW and 430Nm a variant of the 2.8 litre turbo diesel without the mild hybrid system.

Competing to the outgoing LandCruiser Prado the latest SUV is 100mm longer at 4925mm, 20mm taller at 1870mm and 95mm wider at 1980 mm. 60 mm longer wheel base at 2850mm.

The present Prado has been Australia best selling SUV for past nine years. Previous Year Toyota sold 20710 models.

This is identical to the LandCruiser 300. Their wheelbase and width are same. The upcoming LandCruiser Prado will be available locally in Seven and five seat configurations. Toyota announced it have improved wheel articulation. LandCruiser Prado has 50 per cent increase in frame rigidity. The LandCruiser has electric power system which assist loss of steering control when driving off road, helps Lane Tracing and low speed manoeuvring.

The styling is a radical departure from the outgoing model which was update of its predecessor. Its features a bluff, two various front end styles, retro style round headlight elements.

Toyota Australia vice president of sales and marketing expressed ” Its certainly something that we are deeply studying with our US counter parts to understand the technology to understand the capability”.
