2 dead following shooting on UCCS campus in Colorado

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs campus was on lockdown Friday morning. Two people were seemed dead in a dorm. The lockdown has been lifted for the whole campus.

Colorado Springs Police say that lockdown was put in place tied to a call for shots fired at about 6 am.

Urgent UCCSAlert Lockdown Lock interior doors, Turn out the lights, Move away from sight. Do not open the door. Maintain silence. Defend/Evade. UCCS Police posted to social media at start of situation.

Police provided update at 11 10 am expressing they were early in the investigative process and did not have various details to share. The 2 deaths are being investigated at homicides.

Details on suspect or suspects were not shared with public last moment this article was updated at 11:10 am. The campus was shut for rest of the day.

UCCS said that counselling services would offered for students and staff.

UCCSAlert Only those in Alpine Village shelter in place. We do not desire movement in and around these areas All other may leave campus

The shelter in place alert was lifted at 9 35 am.
