The Dutch election was view as test of whether the far righ can expand its reach or it has peaked in parts of Europe.

PVV tied for top spot it showed far right is enduring part of fragmented europe political landscape at time when many other parties have toughened their position on immigration.
Dutch leader Rob Jetten added he was very confident of being able to put together government after party strong showin in parliament election that saw Geert Wilder anti Islam Freedom Party lose ground.
Most of votes counted from Wednesday election which was view as test of far right strength in Europe.
Jetten D66 and Wilder PVV were tied on Thursday with both projected to take 26 seat in 150 seat lower house of parliament.
That was drop for Wilder party which lost over quarter of its seat in two year stemming from poor performance in first attempt government contest on right.
D66 tripled its score.
Mainstream parties have rule out governing with Wilders this time after brought down last coaltion which led by his own party.
This leaves him no viable path to majority D66 young leader Jetten who will still need to clinch help of several other parties.
Wilder said he would take lead in forming government if PVV finally came out with more votes.
As long as it not 100 % clear D66 can not take lead.
We will do everything we can to prevent that he said in post on X.
Counting of ballot was still under way but with 98.8% of votes accounted for it was not expect to change fact that two mega parties are tied for top position.

Party leader convene on Friday to decide on next step and could appoint a scout to start holding coaltion talks to wait for final outcome which are like to come in few days.

Jetten Very Confident On Coalition

At 38 Jetten would be Netherland youngest and first openly gay Prime Minister.
The election delivered a “very strong message form Dutch voters that they want positive political powers in the center to work together and deliver for all the people in the Netherlands,” he said.
With polished messaging and a surge in advertising spending, Jetten moved beyond his D66 party’s traditional themes of climate change and education, plunging into the divisive topics of immigration and a housing crisis. In the process he won over some voters who had previously looked to right-wing parties.
“I’m very excited that we’re going to have the first homosexual prime minister in the Netherlands and also one that is combining all the positive forces,” Lotte van Slooten, a 25-year-old voter, said at a D66 election rally overnight.
