Ace Frehley the original guitarist and founding member of the glam rock band kiss who captivated audience with elaborate galactic makeup and smoking guita died Thursday.

He was 74.

Frehley died peacefully surrounded by family in Morristown, New Jersey following fall according to his agent.

Family members told in statement that they are devastated and heartbroken but will cherish his laughter and celebrate kindness he bestowed upon others.

Frehley would appear with kiss for shows in later years.

A 2023 concert at Madison Square Garden was billed as band last.

Kiss original lineup consist of Frehley singer guitarist Paul Stanley tongue wagging bassist Gene Simmons and drummer Peter Criss.

Band members took on personas of comic book style characters Frehley was famous as Space Ace and Spaceman.

The New York born entertainer and Rock Roll Hall of Famer making his guitars glow emit smoke and shoot rockets from headstock.

Beth was biggest commercial hit in US peaking No 7 on Billboard Top 100 in 1976.

Frehley and Kiss had influence on glammy style of 1980 so called hair metal bands including Motley Crue and Poison.

Frehley feuded with Simmons and Stanley throught he years.

He felt the band in 1982 missing years when they took off the makeup and had mixed success.

Stanley said they replaced Frehley with Eddie Van Halen but Vinnie Vincent assumed the lead guitar role.

He rejoined kiss in mid 1990 for triumphant reunion and restoration of original style came after bands inlcuding Nirvana, Weezer and Melvins had affection for band and paid them musical tributes.

He would leave again in 2002 when the original four entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 a fight scrapped plans for them to perform.

Simmons and Stanley objected to Criss and Frehley being inducted instead of guitarsi Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer.

Simmon told magazine that year Frehley and Criss no longer deserve to wear the paint the makeup is earned he added.
