The GPU industry has seen various mega scale scamming attempts. These  scams follow the cryptocurrency mining which leads to overstock of graphics cards sold to customers.

One scamming attempt is switching GA102 GPU with AD102 for different purpose, overclocking and modding.

Graphics RTX 4090 TUF by ASUS seemed original.but underneath they saw completely unexpected.

Removing the GPU and inspecting it closely it became clear that processor labelled as AD102 was not GPU at all.Someone has polished the die to remove the label.
