Severe Thunderstorm Warning National Weather Service Des Moines IA 729 PM CDT Fri Apr 26 2024

The National Weather Service in Des Moines issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for

Western Union County in south central lowa Western Ringgold County in south central Iowa Taylor County in southwestern Iowa

Until 815 PM CDT

At 729 PM CDT a thunderstorm was located over Lenox or 11 miles southeast of Corning moving northeast at 35 mph.

Hazard 60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.

Impact Hail damage to vehicle is expected Expect wind damage to roof, trees and siding.

Locations impacted include

Clearfield, Diagonal, Lenox, Bedford, Creston Prescott, Blockton, Gravity, Kent

A Tornado watch remains in effect until 9 PM CDT for south central ans southwestern Iowa.

Overnight power outages for thousands in NE Ohio

Thousands FirstEnergy customers were without power early Wednesday morning.

At 3 am more than 4000 consumers in Stark County were in dark and more than 1000 in Ashland County.

Short time later over 1600 consumers in Cuyahoga County were without electricity.

The majority of outage have been restored.

Tornadoes likely in Riverside Clark County, storm damage across area

Few possible tornadoes were reported in Riverside and Clark County early this morning as thunderstorms moved across the region bringing damaging straight winds, hail along a cold front.

Thousands are without power following powerful storms that knocked down trees and power lines.

 In Clark County and Riverside radar tracked tornadic debris signature in various areas.

A tornado was reported at 4:37 am to National Weather Service in Riverside where glass was blown out at the Airway Shopping Center.

Tornado was also reported at 4 54 am to the National Weather Service in Wilmington spotted southeast of Springfield.

Heavy debris reported on Mitchell Road.

A tornado reported at 4 56 am about 4 miles southeast of Springfield with various houses damaged and debris signature also view on radar.

The NWS reported at 5 :01 am that radar confirmed a tornado southeast of Springfield toward South Vienna.

Severe thunderstorm with strong rotation was located at 4 42 am over Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Tornado was radar indicated and the NWS said a tornado is occuring or imminent.

It is not clear how many tornadoes touched down.

 The storms also dropped 2 inch or egg sized hail which reported at 4:55 am near springfield.

Storm damage report are coming in including multiple houses damaged about 5 miles east to southeast of springfield.

Mega free feel on house at 4: 35 am in Huber Height and tre fell on a car nearby.

A 12 inch diameter tree reported down at 4:59 am near New Love Road and Interstate 70 west of South Vienna.

During thunderstorm wind gusts of 60 mph were reported at 4 56 am at Springfield Beckley Airport.

Showers will continuer before 11 am followed by a chance of showers between 11 am and noon.Storms could produce heavy rain.

It will be cloudy with temperatures plunging to around 35 degrees by 5 pm. It also remain breezy with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Tonight will clear and much colder with overnight low around 23 degrees.

Thursday will be sunny with high near 44 degrees.

Thursday night will be clear with overnight low around 28 degrees.

Friday will be cloudy with a high near 51 degrees.

There is less chance of rain Friday and Friday night which will be cloudy with overnight low 40 degrees.

Saturday will be sunny with a high near 60 and Sunday mostly sunny and much warmer with 70 degrees.
