Officials at Navan are hopeful that overnight spike in temperatures will permit for racing on the track on Saturday today afternoon.Precautionary inspection at 7 30 am today morning Saturday 20 January.
Following overnight frost the tack at Navan is unfit for racing, however the forecast is for temperatures to climb up to 6 degrees today and into tomorrow with the chance of light showers overnight.
“With that forecast we are optimistic that racing will go ahead. However due to the fact that we currently remain unfit for racing we will have a precautionary inspection at 7:30 am saturday to assess the situation.
Having spoken with Met Eireann, the forecast looks favourable withe temperatures already rising and likely to remain from 5-6 degrees overnight and into tomorrow. There is a chance of light rain overnight
Following another colid night last night with temperatures dropping to minus three degrees the track at Navan remains unfit for racing at the moment due to frost”. IHRB Clerk of the Course at Navan Paddy Graffin said.
