Cable and internet company Spectrum is telling state that it is shutting a customer service operation Columbus and that 175 workers will lose their jobs.
Spectrum said in statement Friday that affected employees will be permitted for other spectrum jobs.
The cuts will begin Aug 15 and expected to be permanent the company added.
Our goal is to retain as much talent and experience as possible. Employees at our Dublin Road Center may transfer with benefits to other Spectrum customer service centers and encourage to apply for open position within company for which they are qualified.
Employees who do not have role with the company once center close will be entitled to comprehensive severance benefits.
Charte says entire facility of 1600 Dublin road will not be closed as result of this decision.
Spectrum said this call center operation at Dublin Road will be move to other spectrum call centers in US.
In 2023 Saunders state that over 60% of Spectrum Minnesota employees worked in Rochester at that time. The company formerly and still known as Charter had 1200 employees working in Rochester at three locations in 2017.
It has Rochester employees at Bandel Road office and at complex at 3993 Heritage Place NW.
Spectrum eliminated its Rocheste business to business call center in 2019. It was estimated that cut affected up to 200 employees.
In June 2023 it cut 60 position that had been based on Rochester Technology Campus the former IBM campus.
