The Minnesota e bike rebate application period is slated to reopen Tuesday this time with safeguards in place to control high demand.
When the application period start launched in early June technical forced officials to bring the entire system offline.
The state external vendors could not help rise in users looking to apply for rebate.
The Minnesota Department of Revenue and Minnesota IT Services revealed that those interested in rebate can apply starting at 11 am on Tuesday.
Who is eligible for the e-bike rebate?
A person must be 15 years old. They have to have lived in Minnesota for current year and past year and must not have been claimed a dependent in 2023.
How much is the e-bike rebate worth?
The rebate is 50-75% of cost of an e-bike and qualifying accessories up to maximum of $1500. Rebates will be issued on first come first served basis.
Total rebates are limited to $2 million a year in 2024 and 2025. The rebate is determined by applicant 2023 income.
What will be different about the reopened application process?
The reopened application process will feature a waiting room to control the rise of users.
About 10,000 submissions will be accepted. So they expect the application window to be brief.
This is similar method to what mega sports teams use when selling few number of tickets for their playoff games.
The rebate application will be granted to those by order of when they enter waiting room.
The user will have 15 minutes to complete and submit the application.
The state rebate program was put on hold for almost a month after the application site crashed under heavy pressure June 5.
Once allowed to reach the portal users will have 15 minutes to complete the application process.

- Name and contact information
- Tax filing status in previous calendar year
- Social Security Number or individual Taxpayer Identification Number ITIN
- Adjusted Gross Income in past calendar year from line 1 of Minnesota from M1 to line 11 of Federal Form 1040.
Program administration expect to award almost 1300 rebates of various income
10,000 applicants will be accepted once site opens on tuesday. The state will review applications in order in which they are received and reply to each applicant by July 9.
Fueled by $1000,000 from City of Atlanta the rebate program offers $500 to $2,000 off the price of electric bike.
The first round of applications ended last Sunday. Propel ATL and Atlanta Regional Commission plan to accept more applications in October and August
E bikes combine pedal power with electric motor to travel as quick as 25 miles an hour.
