The potential of machining debris inside engines of 2022 and 2023 Toyota Tundra pickups and Lexus LS luxury SUVs triggered a recall of 102,000 models.

The problem cause engine knocking, rough running or prevent motor from starting.

Toyota revealed the recall Thursday and said engines might contain machining debris from manufacturing process which could cause loss of engine power that raises risk of accident.

The 102,000 recalled vehicles were sold in U.S.

The vehicles were powered by Toyota current generation V35A-FTS twin turbocharged V-6.

The recall specifically applies to certain My2022-My2023 products which are powered by Toyota current generation V35-AFTs twin turbocharged V-6.

There is a chance that engine machining debris was not properly cleaned from impacted engines during construction phase contaminating entire batch.

The recall links to models that are powered by V35A engine equipped with specific crankshaft main bearing that permit crank to rotate within the engine assembly.

Due to large amount of pressure on main bearing in specific engine configuration, debris adhere to bearing sunder consistent high load over time.

This can cause bearings to fail and may result in engine knock rough running or no start situation.

The chance of sudden loss of power while at speed which increase the chance of accident.

it is more indicative of worse batch of engines than an inherent design flaw on part of Toyota.
