Gabbard threatens Obama officials with criminal referral over 2016 election assessment

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Friday threatened to link Obama administration officials to Justice Department for prosecution over intelligence assessment of Russia 2016 election interference. in lates example of officials going after enemies of President Donald Trump.

Gabbard declassified documents Friday she claimed were evidence the Obama admin intelligence official manufactured and politicized intelligence to lay groundwork for FBI Russia investigation into Trump.

The FBI criminal investigation into Trump campaign ties to Russia start in 2016 and stretched into first Trump administration. It became subject of investigation by Justice Department1[[= inspection general and special counsel joh Durham who appointed by Attorney General Bill Barr who examine the handling of intelligence led to Trump Russia Probe.

In a post Gabbard added she was turning all documents to DOJ for criminal referral though she did not specify whether she did not specify whether she was referring any officials.

A criminal referral does nto mean the Justice Department will investigate for prosecute.

FBI is investigating former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI director James Comeny for possible false statement to Congress following a link from current CIA Director John Ratcliffe which related to intelligence assessment on Russian election interference.

Durham probe ended with no funding of wrongdoing in handling of intelligence but it did end with indictment of three person including a former FBI lawyer who pleaded guilty to false information in surveillance warrant request targeting a Trump campaign help.

Both Ratcliffe and Gabbard declassified documents this months as part of attempt to undermine intelligence community 2017 assessment that Russia interfered in  2016 US election and tried to assist Trump defeat Hillary Clinton a conclusion that contribute to Trump longstanding distrust of intelligence community.

Senate Intelligence Committe report supported intelligence community assessment of Russian interference in 2016 election.

The Senate Intelligence Committe conducted a bipartisan investigation reviewing hundreds of thousand of documents and interviewing witnesses over several yeard.

The famous bipartisan conclusion was that Russia interfered in 2016 election to benefit Donald Trumop Sen Mark Warner on committe said in statement

“This is another example of DNI trying to cooke the books rewrite history and erode trust in intelligence companies she supposed to be leading.

Connecticut Rep Jim Himes the top Democrat on House Intelligence Committe said in statement.

“Every legitiamte investigation including bipartisan senat intelligence committe investigation found no evidence of politicization and endorse finding of 2016 Intelligence Community Assessment”
