Cold dry weather expected in many regions of Pakistan
Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in several parts of the country while very cold conditions are likely in hilly areas during next twelve hours a Radio Pakistan report said on Thursday.
However partly cloudy weather with light snowfall and rain may happen in Kashmir and hilly areas during evening and night.
Smog and fog are expected to persist in isolated plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during the morning and night hours.
Frost is likely to form in isolated regions of Islamabad the Potohar region KP during morning.
A cold wave swept across country on Wednesday bringing chilly winds and foggy conditions to many regions the Met office told.
The Met forecast cold and dry weather for several parts of country.
Hilly areas especially in Gilgit Baltistan, upperk KPK and kashmir are facing frigid temperatures particularly during night and morning time.
Smog and fog are expected to persist in morning and evening time in plain areas of punjab, sindh and KPK.
The forecaster warned of isolated frost in Potohar area.
A cold wave continues battering across Sindh with most harsh conditions experienced in Tharparkar and Umerkot Districts with temperatures falling by 3-5 Celsius below normal.
Night time temperatures across Sindh are expected to remain below normal.
Upper and Central Sindh may see temperatures 2-4 Celsius below average while lower Sindh could experience a fall by 2-3 Celsius.
The forecast for Thursday predicts continued cold and dry weather in city.
Temperatures are expected to further decrease ranging from 11 Celsius to 9 Celsius.
Temperatures have down to freezing levels with Leh seeing the coldest conditions at -13 Celsius.
Skardu followed closely at -11 while Astore, Hunza,Bagrote, Quetta, Gilgit Gupis to -8 and Dir recorded sub -zero temperatures to -5.
A cold and dry weather pattern persisted across most of country on Wednesday with frigid conditions in hilly areas.
Smog and fog patches were observed in plains of Punjab, KP and upper sindh.
In past three days temperature has plunged to zero degree Celsius with meteorological department forecasting cold wave to increase further in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
“Usually the temperature of Islamabad and adjoining Rawalpindi dropped to freezing point in December and January.
In mid December temperature dropped to -1 for two days but on Monday 3 degree Celsius temperature recorded in Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to clouds”
Met Office official said.
Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi visited different areas in hill station during snow including Jhika Gali, Kuldana, Barian and Kalim Mati, Lower Topa.
He directed administration to provide all possible facilities to tourists and called on people visiting the hill station to be aware of weather situation and cooperated with local authorities.
He said tourists should ensure that vehicles were mechanically fit before coming to Murree adding all administrative departments were on alert tourist should cooperate with administration.
Chief Traffic Officer CTO Murree Mughees Ahmed Hashmi on Monday issued an advisory for tourists to travel to hill station in mechanically fit four four wheel drive vehicles with a full tank of fuel.
The CTO Murree said the city traffic police were ready to provided all possible chances to tourists adding that in case of vehicle slipping during snowfall chains should be wrapped around tyres to avoid any mishap.
City Traffic Police have issued a pleat to motorists to follow the guidelines of traffic wardens deployed at different points during snowfall as they played key role in making people live and journey safe.
The CTO warned that no one would be permitted to violated traffic rules saying that in case of traffic problems anywhere in Murree the traffic control room should be contacted.

The ongoing cold wave gripping the country consisting karachi is likely to intensify further in second week of January 2025 Pakistan Meteorological Department PMD forecast on Wednesday.
Sardar Sarfaraz chief meteorologist at PMD said
“Cold may increase in second week of January”
During past 24 hours Skardu reports -11C, Astore and Gupis -8C Gilgit -7C Quetta and Ziarat -6C Hunza Bagrote and Dir -5C.
Parts of Balochistan are expected to get light showers from January 3 to 5. he said adding.
“The country is likely to get less snowfall and rains during this winter season as compared to previous years.
The weather experts remarks come as temperature in country financial hub has dropped to single digits on multiple occasions during ongoing month.
The prevailing cold wave is not limited to metropolis as temperature has dropped to single digits on multiple times during ongoing month.
