Cambodia and Thailand agree to talks in Malaysia after four days of War

Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to hold talks in Malaysia on Monday in effort to end to conflict that has lasted four days.

The Thai government said it had been told, by Malaysia that Cambodian PM Hum Manet would attend.

Thailand talk on Sunday delegation led by PM Phumtham Wechayachai would attend after US President Trum called leaders for both countries on Saturday to press for ceasefire.

At least 33 soldier and civilians have been killled while thousands of thai and cambodian national migrated since border war broke out on 24 July.

At the start of private visit to his Scottish golf courses Trump wrote on Truth Social that both countries have agreed to meet and rapidly work out  ceasefire.

Both nations thanked him for attempts though shelling continued overnight into Sunday.

Cambodia accepted his request for ceasefire while Thailand stressed the need for dialogue between two nations.

Trump said he looked forward to resume chat with Thailand and Cambodia though it was not right to hold discussions until fighting stops.

He has intervened a week before US tariffs on Thailand and Cambodia are due to come into force.

It is not visible how Trump has involved in situation given just a day before Thailand foreigh minister Maris Sangianmpongsa said

“I do not think we need any mediation from third country yet”

Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim had offered to talk facilitation between Cambodia and Thailand.

Cambodia had called for immediate ceasefire with Thailand and peaceful resolution to fight.

After teeing off at luxury resort Trump Turnberry in South Aryshire the US president added that he had spoken to Cambodian PM Hun Manet and Phumtham

Cambodia had proposed a ceasedfire its army is weaker than Thailand and it has been losing ground and equipment to Thai artillery bombardments and air strikes.

“I made it clear that Cambodia agreed with proposal for immediate and unconditional ceasefire between two armed forces Maned said after phone call.

Thailand says it is willing to consider a ceasefire but is sticking to its demand that dialogue with Cambodia must come first.

Wechacyai thanked President Trump for worries and expressed that Thailand agrees in principle to have ceasdefire in place.

Thailand would like to see intention from Cambodian side the Thai foreigh ministry said in statement.
