Who is Nobel Peace laureate Maria Corina Machado?

October 10 Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado won Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for promoting democratic rights in her country and struggle to gain transition to democracy.

What is Her Background?

Maria Corina Machado 58 was born in Caracas Venezuela on October 7 1967.
She is industrial engineer by training and her father was businessman in Venezueal steel industry.
Her upper calss roots have made her target of criticism from Venezuela governing socialist party.

When Did She Go into Hiding?

Machado won resounding victory in opposition primary election in 2023 and her allies attracted large crowds but ban from holding public office prevented her rallies attracted mega crowds but ban from holding public office prevented her from running for president against Nicols Maduro in election in 2024 and she went into hiding.
