A 23-year-old police officer was murdered and 25 others injured after two explosive devices detonated in western Ukraine’s historic city of Lviv.

Authorities told that  the explosive devices had been concealed in waste bins and detonated after police units arrived at the scene.

As others officers arrived to assist, a second bomb exploded.

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that a suspect had been captured in connection with the attack.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister, Ihor Klymenko, stated that law enforcement and the Security Service had arrested a 33-year-old woman from the Rivne Area.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said the suspect is a Ukrainian national. Authorities are investigating whether others were involved.
