Actor and comedy star icon Dick  Van Dyke is 100 years todays.

The famous star sang danced his way into America hearth through his career that has eight decades long.

As part of celebration of this weekend theaters across country are showing documentary about life.

Van Dyke work helped defined generation. He became one of biggest actors of his era with show The Dick Van Dyke Show which ran for five years on CBS.

Van Dyke was born in West Plains Missouri in 1925 and grew up the class clown in Danville Illinois while admiring the silent movie comedians.

Five years before while celebrating getting Kennedy Center Honor Van Dyke told media Morning that he was looking forward to hitting 100 year old mark.
