NYC Marathon 2025 begin times and how to track the race today

The 2025 TCS New York City Marathon comeback today bringing over 50,000 runners from around the globe into Big Apple.

New Yorkers and visitor should expect road and bridge closures around the five boroughs for international event.

Here is everything to  know about beging times and schedule.

When is the 2025 NYC Marathon?

The marathon is held every year in New York City on first Sunday in November. This year that Nov 3.

It is busy time in city with annual Village Halloween Parade on Friday and early votimg in mayoral election over the weekend.

Sunday start the daylight saving time when the clocks fall back an hour.

The 26.2 mile course starts in Fort Wadsworth. Stalen Island before traveling across the Verrazzano Narrow Bridge into Brooklyn.

 

It cross the Pulaski Bridge into Queens the Queensboro Bridge into Manhattan and Madison Avenue Bridge up into the Bronx..

It cross the Willis Avenue Bridge down to Manhattan West Side and crosses teh finish line inside central park.

NYC Marathon start times and schedule

The first wave start at 8 pm with men professional wheelchair division.

8 am Mens professional wheelchair division

8 02 am Women Professional wheelchair division

8 22 am Handcycling category and select athletes with disabilities.

8 35 am Professional women open division.

9 05 am Professional men open division

9 10 am Wave 1

9 45 am Wave 2

10 20 am Wave 3

10 55 am Wave 4

Mass transit for the NYC Marathon

Starting line

Runners are urged to take Staten Island Ferry to reach starting line.

During morning hours take the 1 train to South Ferry the R train to whitehall street or the 4 train to Bowling Green then walk to Whitehal Ferry Terminal.

On Staten Island shuttle buses will take runner directly from ferry to school road at Bay Street.

Spectators

The MTA says extra staff will deployed to station around the begin finish and famous viewing points including Queensboro Plaza and the Lexington Avenue 59th Street Stations.

 

Northbound 1 trains will run express between 96th and 145th streets and northbound 4 trains will run express between Grand Centrl 42nd Street and 125th Street due to planned work.

 

Central Park Traverse Roads at 65th 79th and 96th street will closed for most of day.

Buses will not be permitted to cross Fifth Avenue during race and riders should ex[ect otheer diversion along route.

Where to watch the NYC Marathon in person

The marathon draw about two million crowd cheering the runners along route.

Organizers say theese are best places to watch them pass by

Brooklyn

Fourth Avenue miles 2-4 Watch the race come over Verrazano Narrow bridge and continue along Fourth Avenue.

Fourth Avenue and Flatbush Avenue Mile 8

Willamsburg and Greenpoint Miles 10-13 Watch the race as approaches Pulaski Bridge and crossed into Queens.

Queens

Pulaski Bridge Mile 13.1 the bridge connects Brooklyn to Queen is closed to crowds but fans can watch from Queen side just past halway symbol.

Charity Cheer Zone First Avenue and 120th Street Miles 19-20 Celebrate runners raising money fro one of NYRR 500 + official Charity partners.

Fifth Avenue East 90th Street East 105th Street Miles 23-24 Watch the race before it enter Central Park

United Airlines Zone Columbus Circle

Race Finish 67th Street on West Drive The general spectator area is inside Cenral Park from Columbus Circle to south end of grandstand 500 feet before finihs line.
