Katie Porter threatens to walk out of TV interview

Katie Porter threatened to walk out of interview with local CBS News affiliate after reporter asked several follow up queries about whether her help for Democrats congressional redistricting measure would alienate Republican voters.

The on camera sitdown with Porter a frontrunner in gubernatorial race grew confrontational after reporter Julie Watts asked

“What do you say to 40 percent of california voters who you will need in order to win who voter for Trump?

Porter comments on Republcian voters gave her GOp opponents a chance to tee off.

As governor I wills serve every citizen of this state whether they voted for President or not whether they vote for me or not.

Porter opponents looked to have happier experience in their own sitdowns with station.

“I need every vote. I m not interested in excluding any vote”

Porter scoffed at premise “How would i need them in order to win ma am? She said turning to someone off camera and laughing.

The former House member landed on answer that sounded more like candidate than a strategist arguing her history winning in purple Orange County positioned her to persuade conservative voters.

She explained she would not need to pick up Republican votes in run off election against GOP opponent in blue California.

Foremr Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra added when asked if he would need Trump voters.

After more follow up queries Porter grew visibly frustrated. She said unnecessarily argumentative before appearing to reach for her mic

“I do not want to keep doing this Not like this im not not with seven follow ups to every single question you ask”

Porter camp said that she did not walk out which CBS confirmed

“The interview moved on continued for other 20 minutes.

That did not stop a pile on from contest and detractors as clip circulated on social media.

“We need a governor who will work to solve problems and who is afraid to answer simple queries”

“No candidate for Governor should hide from press or mistreat them we owe it to public to be transparent”
