French president greeted by King Charles as state visit starts

Emmanuel Macron and his spouse Brigitte have been greeted by Queen Camilla and King Charles as French president begins a three day state visit to UK.

The Macrons were greeted by Princess of Wales and Prince as they arrived at RAF Northolt in west London on Tuesday

It is first state visit by French president since 2008 and  first by European Union political leader since Brexit.

Multiple problems are hoped to be talked between Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Macron during visit including how to stop small boats crossing channel.

King Charles and Queen Camilla carried out a state visit to France in 2023 where he get a standing ovation for his speech to French senate.

He had given strong worded text to help for Ukraine After Russia terrible invasion.

The king had highlighted the existential challenge of climate change.

Downing Street has said the UK relationship with France is key to tackling this among other problems.

“We expect to make good progress on wide range of priorities consisting migration growth defence and security which deliver on interest of both the British and French publci spokesman for No 10 added.

Sylvie Bermann who was French Ambassador to Uk from 2014 to 2017 showed the small boats problem a difficukt but said that France was making progress on it.

Replying to criticism within UK British government has given too much money to France to attempt and deter small boat crossing without seeing any result sof far Ms Bermann said.

“The UK is paying because we is doing job for UK you can not prevent all of them but we are doing our best”

Sir Keir Starmer and Macron will speak by phone to other allied countries who are looking to help  any future peace deal in Ukraine.

On Wednesday Macron will look a horse that he gave to late Queen Elizabeth II to symbol her Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

The French president and his spouse are set to vist tomb of late queen during stay in Windsor.

The UK government has spoken of desiring to reset post brexit relations with European neighbors and Macron visit will be public endorsement of longstanding alliance with France.

MPs and friends will able to hear Macron when he gives a speech to House of Parliament.

Macron and King were seen chatting as they travelled to  Windsor Castle in open top carriages accompanied by Household Cavalry.

Brigitte Macron and Queen Camilla travelled in carriage behind followed by Prince William and Catherine.

Crowds came lined street for opportunity to show the procession.

King Charles and Macron carried out ceremonial inspection of troops in red tunics and bearskin in quadrangle of Windsor Castle before moving inside for lunch.
