with Ramadan is just a days away, Moroccans and non Moroccans living in North African country will have to switch clocks back to GMT on Sunday March 10 at 3 a.m.
Morocco is expected to fast first day of Ramadan 2024 on March 12 according to converging astronomical calculations.
The decision to follow GMT permanently caused frustration nationwide with various Morocans protesting measure and questioning its relevance.
Switching the GMT will take place during transition from Saturday night to Sunday at 3 am marks the onset of new day.
Morocco follow the daylight saving measure in 2008 switching clocks to GMT+ during summer season.
Morocco has taken to switching clock every summer to DST, GMT+1 and returning to old standard time GMT for a period when Ramadan fell in summer.
It was not until 2018 Morocco follow daylight saving time on permanent basis.
The Moroccan Islamic Ministry will confirm official date of Ramadan following crescent moon sighting which is take place on Sunday this week.
Morocco will go back to daylight saving time of GMT+1 few days after Ramadan.
The holy month lasts 29 to 30 days.
