The Downtown Rodeo parade is set for Saturday Feb 24 at 10 am. It will celebrate Western heritage and symbol the start of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo which has a tradition in Houston since 1932.
Opening day is Feb 27 and March 17 is last day of popular event which features concerts, livestock, and rodeo competitions, auctions a carnival plus several food and retail vendors.
Parade Route
The parade route starts at Walker Streets and Bagby travels from Travis to Bell Street and from Bell Street to Louisiana Street before turning on Lamar Street and ends at Bagby and Lamar.
Arrive early to safe a viewing spot along the route. The places to view the parade are on Louisiana from Lamar to Bell. Lamar and from Louisiana to Smith.
Grand Marshall
This year Downtown Rodeo Parade grand marshall will be none other than Buc ees founder and CEO Arch Beaver Aplin III.
Aplin will joined by iconic, beloved brainchild Beaver, the Buc ees mascot who will walk the parade route with fellow belove mascot the rodeos Howdy.
Parking Info
Public parking garages in downtown Houston area and the Theatre District are available to parade viewers. Prepare for each garage to have its own parking fee.
Street Closures
Expect streets to be closed Saturday morning of the parade and Rodeo Run start at 8:30 am. Streets will open after the event finish in afternoon around 2 p.m.
As the countdown for 2024 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo continues show shared time and date changes new attractions, new food choices and special days for attendees.
Opening day is Feb 27 and March 17 last day of framed event which features rodeo, livestock, concerts competitions, auctions, a carnival, plus several food vendors and retail.
Dates to Know
This year rodeo mark the 50th anniversary of the World Championship Bar B Que contest and will feature value Wednesdays and earlier weekend start times

- HSLR weekend dates now start an hour earlier at 2 45 pm. NRG Stadium gates open at 2pm and the entertainer will storm the Star Stage around 5 pm
- Value Wednesdays Feb 28 March 6 and March 13
- Free admission for seniors age 60 and older, children age 12 and under until noon vendor discounts until 4 pm
- Community Day March 6
- Admission to NRG Park is free for everyone until noo.
- Junction carnival rides and games buy one get one free and one beverage are discounted until 4 pm.

- Family owned fair food business Waffle Chix
HLSR eateries will offer new foods. Asian Streetness will sell wonton nachos while Cajun Cowboy will have Louisiana crawfish cheese fries and churro fries.
