With Artscape kicking off this Friday the Baltimore City Department of Transportation is advising drivers to be aware of road closures and parking restrictions.
Modifications take effect in Mount Vernon, Charles North , Bolton Hill and Station North Arts District on Monday at 7 am,
Travelers are encouraged to download the Waze app for live detour navigation.
Once the road closures are implemented motorists will be rerouted to change routes are directed by Baltimore City Police BPD. Transportation Enforcement Officers TEOs signs and electronic message boards.
According to DOT travelers should pay close attention to posted parking limitation throughout duration of week.
Artscape is America mega free festival showcasing Charm City since 1982. According to Artscape its start as an Arts Fair marketing Baltimore as a cultural hub for draw community help and economic development and investment in area.
Residents, visitor and students are encouraged to plan for road closure using change routes below.

The 3 day event starts on Friday August 2 and ends on Sunday August 3. After the event ends few road closures will remain in place until 4:00 pm on Tuesday August 6.
The Charm City Circulator is available for those who would prefer to ride the shuttle
Charm City Circulator CCC patrons should be aware that CCC bus operations along the Purple Route will be change starting next week in preparation for Artscape.
On Monday July 29, 2024 Purple Route modifications will be in effect through Tuesday August 6, 2024 with normal operations on Wednesday August 7, 2024.

- Cathedral Street between W Biddle Street and Mr Royal Avenue
- Dolphin Street between Howard Street and Mt Royal Avenue
- W Preston Street between Cathedral and N Howard Streets
- W lanvale Street between Mt Royal Avenue and Rutter Street
- W Oliver Street between Mt Royal and Maryland Avenues
- W Lafayette Street between Mt Royal Avenue and Rutter Street
- McMehen, Malster and Dickson streets will be closed behind the MICA Bunting Center and Fox building
- W Preston Street between Maryland Avenue and Cathedral Street

Road Closures from Friday August 2nd at 9:oo am to Monday August 5, 2024 at 6 am
- Falls Road from W Lafayette to Maryland Avenues
- Southbound Jones Falls Expressway ramp to Maryland Avenue
- A temporary traffic pattern will be installed along Maryland Avenue from Oliver Street to North Avenue vehicles will only able to turn North onto Maryland Avenue at Oliver Street
- Northbound Maryland Avenue traffic must turn right at north avenue
- The inspection of Mt Royal and Maryland Avenues will remain closed until Monday at 6 am.The event North Avenue will remain open to through traffic.
In Sunday August 4th from 9 am until 12 pm. Maryland Avenue will be converted to 2 way traffic pattern from Preston Street to Mt Royal Avenue for church services.
Baltimore and surrounding region will be under heat warning from the National Weather Service from noon 8 pm Friday the first day of Airscape. The heat inder could reach 110 degrees.
Baltimore is under Code Red Heat Alert that start thursday and continues through Saturday.

Babies anc children should never lefr in closed vehicle even for short time.
Heat related illnesses include heat exhaustion, heatstroke and cramps. Heatstroke is life threatening medical condition and requires immediate care.
The festival is divided into zones and has four stages with various performers scheduled for whole weekend. Each zone has different offering from public art to beer gardens.
Chaka Khan has Queen of Funk is schedule to be Artscape headline performer.
The festival has long list of food and drink vendors lined up for weekend including favorites liek Ekiben and The Empanada Lady.
This year Artscape will include cooling buses that visitors can stop in to escape the heat. There will be various sunscreen stations around the even which rus Friday to Sunday.
Staying safe in high temperatures is all about prevention according to Maryland Department of Health.
Saturdays and Sunday are forecast to be cooler with projected highs of 93 and 92 degrees. There is chance of rain and storm both days.
